Physical Demand Evaluations
Physical Demands Evaluation (PDE):
This evaluation is unique to ErgoMed. In order to insure ADA compliance the essential job functions must be documented. ErgoMed will assist employers in this process by conducting physical demand evaluations of job classification determined by the employer. ErgoMed will come to your jobsite and conduct these evaluations. The term “essential function” means the fundamental job duties of the employment position not the marginal job functions. This is why the PDE evaluates only the essential functions. When evaluating essential functions several things must be considered.
- Does the position exist to perform a particular function
- Number of employees available to complete the particular function
- Degree of expertise to perform the particular function
- Is an essential function part of the written job description prior to interviewing applicants
- Amount of time spent performing the function
- Consequences of not performing the function
- Terms of the collective bargaining agreement
